World Class Chefs

  • Ramilo (Ram) Villaluna

Ram is a budding chef from Iloilo City (Molo). He gained his training in Culinary Arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies under food guru Gene Gonzalez, Institute of Culinary Education (formerly Peter Kumpps) in New York. He took up bread making, and he studied food styling under Delores Custer of the Culinary Institute of America. It all started in Antique where his father owned a restaurant many Antiquenos learned to love. He continued the culinary legacy of his father and now, Ram owns a catering business, Cindy\'s Catering. Food is Ram\'s life, seriously speaking. I am short in saying that he is married to the food industry that, he spends most of his time teaching and mentoring at the Department of Culinary Arts at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo. If one cannot find him in the classroom, Ram will be on the road crisscrossing Iloilo and Antique having first hand in the management of his thriving businesses from both provinces. He also has a once-a-week TV show in GMA 7 \"Food Trip\". I met with Ram once before and he exudes perfectionism, the character that will beam him up to the limelight of culinary arts. At present time, Ram is extremely busy in Manila. I believe he is one of the finalists in The National Food Showdown 2010 sponsored by ABS-CBN. We wish you all the luck, Ram! Maybe, after this showdown, Ram will have the opportunity share favorite recipe here at ILONGGO LIVING.

About

DSC01131

This blogsite was originally located in Hapit Anay! webpage with the mission of helping fellow Ilonggos in North America find ingredients of their favourite Ilonggo dishes. Team blogging was the original plan with the help of Cecil from Anaheim, California and Natie of New Jersey and yours truly from Canada. Thus, CNL (Cecil-Natie-Lee). The idea was preconceived by Inday Hami (I Love Iloilo) and with the unrelenting encouragement of jorp (Flavours of Iloilo), Hapit Anay was born! Lately, some technical difficulties encountered by the author such as coordinating activities of other authors, running out of space and, with photos piling up from his recent trip to the Philippines, they decided to abandon Hapit Anay and construct another blogsite that is more fitting and applicable for the author. Furthermore, Cecilia has her own blogsite (Baluarte) up and running smoothly and Natie will just be cruising from site to site.

In anticipation for bloggers/readers interests in trying out cooking the food(s) posted in this blog, the author provided the RECIPE page (DocStoc). Hopefully, it wil accomodate requests for recipes. Please feel free utilize this newly-added feature of my blog! My “chef” or yours truly will do our best to share our recipes. All measurements are approximate and you are freely allowed to modify them!

The latest feature I added here in Ilonggo Living side bar, World Class Chef, will help promote budding chefs from around the world. I cordially invited them share their expertise to my readers so, at least once a month, they can share their favourite recipes.  Just recently, to celebrate my 300th post, the author switched to a newer template that gave ILONGGO LIVING some sort of a face lift. So far, I received positive inputs from my readers about the change.  I THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

Lastly, the author will be willing to share the ORIGINAL PHOTOS used in this blog to readers who wants to use them for whatever purpose . Just ask my permission in an e-mail format and please attach my blogsite’s name to it.

Hoping this blogsite, ilonggoLIVINGinCanada, will serve its purpose.
